The Imperial Beach Pier is one of 5 piers where it's possible to surf in San Diego. Don't be fooled by thinking you can only surf directly next to the IB pier. On the contrary, beach breaks stretch going both North and South from the pier almost as far as the eye can see. This is due to the shifting sand bars.
